Our Summer 2026 Fellows completed their in-person training at the University of Chicago last week, led by Hannah Baron, PhD and Rodrigo Balvanera-Garza. We are excited to welcome 11 outstanding fellows representing 6 institutions: Dartmouth College, Harvard University, University of Chicago, University of Richmond, William & Mary, and Xavier University.
During the training, fellows built a strong foundation in democratic erosion and developed the skills needed for their coding work this summer. Their contributions will support the expansion of the subnational Democratic Erosion Event Dataset (DEED) and the forthcoming Version 8 release of the cross-national DEED dataset. This fellowship will help strengthen the quality and scope of our research, providing valuable data for academics, policymakers, and practitioners around the world.
Stay tuned for updates as our fellows begin their summer coding and contribute to these exciting projects. We look forward to sharing more about their work and DEED developments. Great job to all of our Summer 2026 Fellows!
Special thanks to the support from the Chicago Center On Democracy!
