Spring 2026 is underway meaning another semester of our joint university course on Democratic Erosion! This semester the DEC course is bringing together 22 universities, 5 of which are new to the DEC network and 3 are abroad! Together the curriculum has reached approximately 600 students this semester. Faculty are also engaging in cross-collaborative activities through joint virtual presentations, online simulations, WhatsApp groups, and in-class activities, connecting classrooms and perspectives across institutions.
A highlight this semester is our ongoing collaboration with the College Debates and Discourse (CD&D) Alliance. Using CD&D’s toolkit and collaborative, nonpartisan approach, DEC faculty members can engage their students in civic dialogue that connects to the Democratic Erosion Curriculum. Past topics that students have explored are identifying solutions to democratic backsliding and examining the United States’ status as a democracy.
We’re happy to share another semester connecting DEC faculty and students across campuses through engaging collaborative experiences.
