Burcu Degirmen Dysart

Burcu Degirmen Dysart is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Political Science at DePaul University in Chicago. She specializes in comparative politics, with an emphasis on democracy, democratization, and authoritarianism. Her teaching and research examine the politics of authoritarian rule, processes of authoritarian legitimacy and legitimation, and autocratization, with particular attention to Russia and Turkey. She has extensive teaching experience across universities in both Turkey and the United States. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma.
